I SEE YOU CONFERENCE

The I SEE YOU project consortium is pleased to invite you to the project’s final conference:

"YOUNG, INNOVATIVE AND SOCIAL – SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A CAREER PERSPECTIVE FOR YOUTH"
5TH OCTOBER 2016, 14:00 – 18:00
HOTEL DEVÍN, RIEČNA STREET 162/4, BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA

The conference will bring together project partners, stakeholders and young social entrepreneurs from all over Europe to present and discuss the results of the 2-years-project I SEE YOU and to disseminate the idea of social entrepreneurship to the interested public.

I SEE YOU EVENT IN CLUJ

I SEE YOU EVENT IN CLUJ

May 11, 2016

The fourth I SEE YOU event will take place on May 18th and 19th in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

I SEE YOU partner organizations will meet to discuss the Business Angel Attraction Plan developed within the project, and to find common strategy for getting business angels’ support for the I SEE YOU initiative. Moreover, partners will provide updates on the young people’s use of the entrepreneurship training and business simulation tool. At the same time, during the meeting, the partners will work on the dissemination and sustainability strategy of the project.

As a highlight, a stakeholder network round table will be organized in order to put partner organizations in contact with entrepreneurship experts. The partners will discuss with the experts the resources created within the project, generating together sustainability opportunities for the I SEE YOU open educational resources for young people.

I SEE YOU INCLUSION PAPER

We are proud to announce the publication of our Migrants / Minorities Inclusion Strategy Paper, which analyses the situation of (young) migrant entrepreneurs in Europe and the obstacles they face in becoming self-employed. 

The research was conducted by our Italian partner – Programma Integra, and it comprises basic information about migrant entrepreneurship in Europe, and about the European policies and strategies to promote entrepreneurship among migrants or minority groups, but also among young people.

At the same time, the paper analyses the obstacles that young people face when they want to start a business, focusing on the additional obstacles faced by young migrants in the same situation. Specific obstacles for young migrant entrepreneurs were identified for each country involved in the I SEE YOU project, with the help of 85 experts from Austria, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, and UK. The most mentioned obstacles for young migrants to open a business in these countries were: language barriers, overwhelming bureaucracy (red tape), and different types of discrimination (based on education, social background or race).

I SEE YOU EVENT IN GALWAY

The third I SEE YOU event will take place on November 23rd and November 24th in Galway, Ireland.

I SEE YOU partner organizations will meet to discuss the entrepreneurship trainings for the young people involved in the project, as well as the business simulation tool, which will be used to develop key entrepreneurship competences for youth, such as critical thinking, willingness to explore, ability to prioritize, ability to take decisions, and ability to take initiative. At the same time, during the meeting, the partners will work on a strategy for the sustainability of the project.

As a highlight, a stakeholder network round table will be organized in order to put partner organizations in contact with business angels. The partners will find out useful information about how to connect the young people who benefit from the project with business angels from their countries or regions.

COMPARATIVE REPORT ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Comparative Report of Country Findings on key entrepreneurship competences reveals five lacking competences in the I SEE YOU participating countries: Austria, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, and UK:

1. Ability to prioritize
2. Ability to take decisions
3. Ability to take initiative
4. Critical Thinking
5. Willingness to Explore

These five lacking competences will be used as key elements in developing both the I SEE YOU entrepreneurship training and the business simulation game, which will be then provided to 105 young people from the seven countries involved in the project.

KEY COMPETENCES REPORTS

I SEE YOU partners revisited the entrepreneurship key competences, relevant at the European level, in order to identify the most relevant competences for each country involved in the project.

The most important entrepreneurship key competences relevant to I SEE YOU project are: leadership, willingness to explore, ability to plan, ability to take decisions, ability to prioritize, creativity, taking initiative, digital competences, competitiveness and the ability to think critically (EUCIS-LLL, 2013).

However, each country and culture places a different emphasis on different key skills. Thus, I SEE YOU partners weighed and ranked these competences, in accordance to their national importance for youth entrepreneurs. At the same time, each partner conducted research on the entrepreneurship key competences, which is used in developing the entrepreneurship trainings for the young people.

The second I SEE YOU event will take place on May 11th and May 12th in Madrid, Spain.

I SEE YOU partner organizations will meet to discuss each country findings on the entrepreneurship key competencies, but also to plan the entrepreneurship trainings for the young people involved in the project.

At the same time, during the meeting, the partners will work on the plan for engaging youth and stakeholders in the project, on the dissemination of project’s activities, and on the strategy paper for facilitating the accession of young people with minority or migrant background on the entrepreneurship environment.

As a highlight, a stakeholder network round table will be organized inviting experts in entrepreneurship to connect and engage with both the partner organizations and the project’s activities.

I SEE YOU partners revisit the entrepreneurship key competences, relevant at the European level, in order to identify the most relevant competences for each country involved in the project.

The most important entrepreneurship key competences relevant to I SEE YOU project are: leadership, willingness to explore, ability to plan, ability to take decisions, ability to prioritize, creativity, taking initiative, digital competences, competitiveness and the ability to think critically (EUCIS-LLL, 2013).

However, each country and culture places a different emphasis on different key skills. Thus, I SEE YOU partners have recently started to weigh and rank these competences, in accordance to their national importance for youth entrepreneurs.

The final Methodology & Regional Key Competence Catalogue related to entrepreneurship will be published on this website, and it will be used to streamline the entrepreneurship trainings and e-activities to the needs of young people from the countries analysed.
